The Master of Health Studies (MHS) is a 33-credit online graduate program. You must complete at least 18 credits through Athabasca University.
You can choose either a thesis-based or a course-based route. All courses are grouped study, with defined start and end dates. You can also complete a focus area: Teaching Focus, Leadership Focus, or Health Research Focus.
You can take up to 7 years to complete all requirements.
Note: Although the Master of Health Studies is open to nurses, we strongly recommend that nurses take the Master of Nursing degree. Nurses should consult with current or potential employers to ensure they are choosing the most appropriate degree for their professional goals. Once a degree has been conferred, the credential granted cannot be changed.
