School of Computing and Information Systems - How to take an undergraduate course
Register for a course
All of the AU School of Computing and Information Systems undergraduate courses are available through Internet delivery. To register, simply access the link to Office of the Registrar Online Services and select the Register for a Course option. Once you are registered, the Registrar's Office will send you a course package through the mail that will contain your textbook, if your course includes a hard copy, as well as information regarding your course. Many courses now include an eText. You don't have to wait for this package before you access the online course materials. Once you have completed the registration for an undergraduate course and have a student ID#, you will only need to allow two or three business days before you will be able to access the online course materials. (Note - You are allowed access to the course materials before your actual course start date, but cannot submit assignments or quizzes, post to the forums, or contact your tutor until your actual course start date.)
Access the course materials
Two or three business days after the Registrar's Office has received your undergraduate course registration, you should be able to access your course materials using the AU username and password you created for course registration. Use this username and password to gain access to the Online Course Materials links for your course through myAU. More information on this this is outlined in the accessing course materials documentation. If you have any problems with the access of your course materials, contact the FST technical team.
Proceed with your course
Once you have accessed your online course materials, you will be able to proceed with your course. The online course materials site for your course provides you with a study schedule to follow, a study guide that tells you how to proceed with your course content, general course information links, a participant's list, forums, possibly quizzes, and assignments with assignment drop boxes.
Getting help
You will be assigned a tutor (also called an academic expert) to assist you with your progress through your course. If you have any problems authenticating, accessing or downloading course materials, or using online course tools and materials, contact the FST technical team.
