Research Ethics Board

The Athabasca University Research Ethics Board is an independent decision-making board. It has been established to review all proposals for research involving:

  1. Living human participants (and their data)
  2. Human biological materials derived from living or deceased individuals where research is conducted:
    • by members of the university community, or in collaboration with them
    • using university resources (e.g., research space, material, equipment, human resources, research funds)
    • at or under the auspices of the university by external researchers

Research Ethics Board reviews conform to the requirements of the federal Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans – TCPS 2 (2022) and related Athabasca University policy and procedures.
