Leadership in Education

Explore and apply leadership theory through case-based educational study. You will develop knowledge and skill in inclusive, innovative leadership strategies and the management of education programs. This focus area is geared for any level of educator, whether it be in administration, development, design, or delivery.

The Leadership in Education focus area emphasizes:

  • general leadership theory
  • critical cases in educational leadership
  • current education issues and needs
  • design-based methods in distance education using leadership interventions
  • project management techniques as a leadership function
  • personal leadership competencies
  • inclusive leadership as a practice in education

Courses

Master of Education graduate program students choosing a focus area may do so through the course-based or thesis route. To qualify for a focus area, students must complete all core and prescribed electives for either the course-based or thesis routes, as well as declare their selection with the MEd program administrator.
