Women’s Health Nursing Research
Overview
This research position will support the development of a research program examining nursing care and health equity. This role will support the principal investigator in disseminating and advancing dissertation research and other studies with research teams in a collaborative research program related to nursing education, nursing practice, health equity, women’s health and sexually transmitted and blood-borne transmission (STBBI) care.

The project involves working closely with the principal investigator, co-investigators, and other research team members. The primary job duties of the research assistant (RA) may include appraisal of qualitative and quantitative research, data collection and analysis, and manuscript and presentation development.
The successful candidate will work with and directly report to Dr. Georgia Dewart at Athabasca University. The candidate will be provided with adequate training for all activities, such as appraisal of qualitative and quantitative research, data collection and analysis, and manuscript and presentation development. If required, the RA will be provided training to work with various tools and software such as NVivo, Covidence, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft PowerPoint. The successful candidate will gain valuable experience in conducting primary research and literature reviews, disseminating results, and co-authorship as applicable.
This is a casual position with flexible hours. The work schedule is anticipated to be between 2 and 3 hours per week throughout the study. The rate of pay is commensurate with experience and collective agreement provisions. All duties can be completed remotely
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree required
- Experience in nursing practice and education is preferred but not required
- Experience in community health, women’s health or STBBI care is preferable but not required
- Strong writing skills
- Ability to work remotely
- Theoretical or practical understanding of conducting primary research and literature review
- Experience with manuscript preparation
- Completion of TCPS 2.0 CORE module, an asset
- Demonstrates confidence and maturity in interpersonal relationships
- Ability to be flexible, respond to changing priorities and meet deadlines
- Demonstrate initiative and be self-motivated while knowing when to seek help
- Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
