Program details
The Post-Masters Diploma: Nurse Practitioner (PMD-NP) is a 30-credit online graduate program. You must complete at least 12 credits through Athabasca University.
All courses are online grouped study, with defined start and end dates. There is also a 1-week on-site component. Clinical practicums are completed on-site during each of the life-stage courses.
You will write a comprehensive examination during the final course in the program.
This program does not prepare nurse practitioners to work in acute care settings or to focus on a clinical specialty.
You can finish this program in as little 2 years of study or take up to 5 years to complete all requirements.
Please note: Athabasca University is currently unable to accept applications from British Columbia due to the limited availability of clinical placements in the province. AU’s Faculty of Health Disciplines is working with the BC Ministry of Health to resolve this issue and plans to resume admission of BC-based students as soon as the practicum situation improves.
