I began work with Athabasca University in 2006 as a sessional instructor and became a full time faculty member in the Nurse Practitioner (NP) Program in 2008. I was the NP Program Director from 2010-2019. Prior to joining Athabasca University I was the NP Program Director at the University of Manitoba and taught in the NP program at the University of Toronto. Teaching in three different Master’s Programs has given me a broad perspective on NP education which has been supplemented by national work on developing educational curriculum and standards.

I practice clinically as a neonatal nurse practitioner NICU, ST Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg Manitoba and strongly believe that this practice grounds me in the work that I do as a faculty member. I am the Editor-in-Chief for Neonatal Network: The Journal of Neonatal Nursing and have edited three nursing textbooks. My passion for writing is something that I hope to pass on to both my students and colleagues as I believe that sharing knowledge is the key to moving the profession of nursing forward. I work internationally with several nursing organizations and have had the privilege of speaking at a number of conferences across Canada and the United States.

My research interests include the care of extremely low birthweight infants, online education strategies and curriculum development. I live and practice clinically in Manitoba.
