Athabasca University’s Leadership and Management Development ( LMD) courses are designed for managers and professionals with significant work experience who are ready for further leadership development.
We offer these professional development opportunities in 2 ways:
- scheduled online courses for individual study
- custom-tailored solutions for organizational training
All courses are adapted from our highly successful online Master of Business Administration ( MBA) program, and all can be used as transfer credit toward:
- a Leadership and Management Development certificate of completion in Leadership
- our online MBA program —3 LMD courses equals 1, three-credit online elective

Individual benefits
Our online courses bring students together from a variety of industries and locations around the world. The asynchronous format allows you to interact with your classmates no matter where you are or what time zone you are in.
The courses are short—4 weeks long—and have set start and end dates. It is up to you when you complete your coursework during this time. You will receive a work plan with assignment deadlines to help keep you on track.
Our faculty, academic coaches, admissions coordinators, learning services, and IT Help Desk are available to help you learn effectively in the online environment.
