Message from the dean

Welcome to the Faculty of Business at Athabasca University, Canada's Online University! Our goal is to provide you with a relevant business education in a flexible format to meet your needs, while removing barriers that may impact your access to high quality university-level business education.

We are a community of change makers. We make a difference through our innovative programming, world-class and impactful research, and supportive environment. From launching the world's first online Master of Business Administration in 1994 to renewing our Bachelor of Commerce program to introducing the world's first virtual based cooperative learning experience, we pride ourselves on continuously finding new ways to integrate cutting edge research into our programming and create exceptional experiences for our learners.

To address challenges and opportunities for learners, we partner with key organizations, such as the Aboriginal Financial Officers Association of Alberta. The online Bachelor of Commerce, Indigenous Business Major is an example of this. The program was created and is taught by Indigenous scholars through online and in-person delivery, with support through one-on-one mentorship. Indigenous Culture, Tradition, and Values are prominent and woven in with contemporary management practices in each course.
