Writing forum

The Write Site’s writing forum is an informal gathering of AU students and Write Site writing coaches in a Microsoft Teams meeting. The writing forum provides a space for you to ask questions and share experiences about writing. If you don’t feel comfortable talking, we still encourage you to attend to learn from others’ questions and contributions!

Note that the writing forum is not a space to get one-on-one support for your assignment. Please see “What if I need one-on-one support?”

Click the “Register” links on the schedule to sign up and receive the meeting links.

1. Once you register, you will receive an email with a link to a Microsoft Teams meeting.
   
   We recommend that you download and test Teams prior to the meeting.
2. You may also call from a phone to listen. The phone-in information is found in the registration email.
3. When you first join, you will not have access to your mic or camera. The host will give you access to your mic and camera shortly.

No. All you need is:

• A computer or device with an internet connection (preferably high-speed).
• If you do not have a microphone or camera on your computer, you can type in the chat.

You can ask questions on any writing-related topic. The icebreaker topic is just to get discussion started!

• The writing forum is intended for AU students only. Please choose a quiet place where you are alone and can concentrate.
• Please mute yourself when not speaking to avoid disruptive background noise. The host may also mute you.
• Please blur your background or use a background filter.
• Respect and professionalism are expected at all times.

• Benefit from a group teaching environment.
• Meet other AU students in an informal environment.
• Learn answers to writing questions you didn’t think to ask or were afraid to ask.
• Share your concerns, uncertainties, and experiences with writing.

• If you would like feedback on your writing, you can submit an assignment to the Write Site drop box.
• If you have a specific writing question, you can book an appointment or email the Write Site.
