Internationally-trained architects

Non-program status

Students who wish to take courses required for Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB) certification may register as non-program students within the GDA program. CACB referral students must submit a copy of their referral letter for course confirmation. As outlined by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, students are also expected to provide documentation showing completion of the English language proficiency requirement.

International students who have not met the English Language Proficiency Requirement must first complete one of the English Language and Writing Skills courses offered at AU before being admitted into the Graduate Diploma in Architecture courses.

All materials for non-program student registration (including the application form and fees) must be completed in full and received one month prior to the course start date.

Application steps for CACB referral students

  1. Complete the Non-Program Application Form online (select "Non-Program Graduate Diploma in Architecture" on the application form).
  2. Email a copy of your referral letter along with the English Requirement documentation to fst_success@athabascau.ca.
  3. Upon receipt of confirmation email, log into your myAU student portal to fill out the course registration form.
