Examining policy responses to household food insecurity in Canada
Overview
One research assistant position is open to support a SSHRC-funded project examining policy responses to household food insecurity in Canada.
Specific activities include, but are not limited to
- Leading the writing of qualitative research manuscripts
- Conducting and supporting literature reviews
- Writing research grant applications
- Supporting knowledge mobilization
- Collaborating with partner organizations
- Participating in research team meetings
The successful candidate will work with, and directly report to, Dr. Alexa Ferdinands at Athabasca University. The successful candidate must have outstanding writing skills and experience with qualitative research methods. It is expected that the successful candidate will take initiative and work well independently. They must have experience leading the writing of publications and grant applications, as these tasks comprise a significant portion of this role.
This is a casual position with flexible hours. However, a commitment of at least 10 hours/week is required. The rate of pay will be commensurate with experience and collective agreement provisions. All duties can be completed remotely.
Qualifications
- Outstanding writing skills
- Qualitative research experience is essential
- Experience leading the writing of manuscripts
- Grant-writing experience
- Completion of a graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in public health, sociology, or a related discipline
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
