Academic records

Enrolment Services records your final grades, makes sure that you get written confirmation of your grades, and manages your transcript requests.

The AU Undergraduate Calendar outlines our academic records polices and related information.

Requesting a transcript

Athabasca University now issues transcripts through MyCreds™, a secure document-sharing platform. You can request a transcript online by logging into myAU. Select the "Request Transcripts" option under Student Record in the left-hand navigation menu. This service allows you to preview and print your transcript before it gets sent to the destination that you have specified. In exceptional circumstances, students are able to request a paper transcript by submitting the transcript request form to Academic Records in the Office of the Registrar.

It is the student's responsibility to determine if the institution they are sending to accepts transcripts through MyCreds™. Payment to MyCreds™ is non-refundable.

More information about transcripts requests can be found in the Calendar, or by contacting the Information Centre at 1-800-788-9041.

Viewing your grades online

To view your individual assignments, exam marks, or final grades online, log into myAU. Select the "Check Your Grades" option under Student Record in the left-hand navigation menu.

If you have questions about your grades, contact your course assistant (i.e., tutor, academic expert, etc.) or AU's Information Centre.

Who has access to my academic records?

AU keeps academic records confidential. We do this in accordance with the Alberta Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act. In most cases, we will not release information to third parties without the explicit consent of the student. Exceptions, which include legal investigations and fine or debt collection, are explained in the act.

All other information requires that a student complete a Release of Information Waiver. This indicates who AU may release information to, and what information we may provide.

A student must print off the form, provide the necessary information, and return the signed form to AU. Then, the Academic Records area may release information only to the parties indicated.

This document from the FOIP website gives more information about the Freedom of Information Act and how it applies to post-secondary institutions.
