Master of Education in Open, Digital, and Distance Education - Learning outcomes

Athabasca University uses program learning outcomes to articulate course learning outcomes. These outcomes embrace the essential knowledge, attributes, and attitudes that graduates of the Master of Education in Open, Digital, and Distance Education will acquire over their studies. Using theory, research, and insights gained from professional practice, graduates of the program will have the knowledge, transferable skills, and awareness to demonstrate the following program learning outcomes.

Learning outcomes
Collaboration Learners will need to effectively work with diverse groups of people in designing programs, courses, materials, assessments, and learning activities within open, digital, and distance education.
Integration Learners will combine instructional design theories, methodologies and practices, recognizing these methodologies' limits and their knowledge and ability to make sound judgements and recommendations.
Management Learners will coordinate the development and organization of educational programs and training in practical and professional contexts.
Evaluation Learners will determine the appropriate use of educational and communication technologies in open, digital, and distance education.
Problem-solving Learners will create effective solutions to various instructional problems and situations in open, digital, and distance education.
Contribution Learners will meaningfully participate in digital learning networks and communities.
Analysis Learners will demonstrate their ability to analyze relationships among social developments, innovation, and digital learning environments and their implications for self and society.
Reflection Learners will develop the ability to reflect critically on personal perspectives, professional contexts, and educational practices.
Research Learners will research innovative, open, and digital learning by analyzing instructional contexts, problems, and issues.
