Overview

One research assistant position is open to support a SSHRC-funded project examining experiences of the affordable housing sector in Nova Scotia.

Specific activities include, but are not limited to

  • Conducting virtual interviews with people working in the NS housing sector
  • Verifying transcripts of interviews
  • Supporting data analysis of interviews
  • Collaborating on the writing of manuscripts
  • Participating in research team meetings

The successful candidate will work with, and directly report to, Dr. Katie MacDonald at Athabasca University. The successful candidate must have experience with qualitative research methods, knowledge of the aGordable housing sector, and excellent writing skills. It is expected that the successful candidate will take the initiative and work well independently. They must have experience conducting qualitative interviews, as these tasks comprise a significant portion of this role. This is a casual position with flexible hours. However, a commitment of at least 6 hours/week is required. The rate of pay will be commensurate with experience and collective agreement provisions. All duties can be completed remotely.

  • Experience analyzing interviews
  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to take lead on research
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently with minimal supervision
