I have a PhD in English Literature from the University of Alberta. My dissertation focused on genre and the literature of the American Civil War era. My thesis for my Master of Arts in English literature at the University of Alberta was a creative writing thesis (a collection of short stories). Besides Athabasca University, I have worked as a sessional instruction at several universities in Alberta. Before I did my graduate degrees, I worked as a librarian and as an editor. I have published fiction, poetry, and nonfiction in periodicals in Canada and the United States. My novel Deuce, about a intersex person and his-her family, will be published in 2022 with Inanna Publications. I live and work in Edmonton, Alberta. For more about me, see vivianzenari.com.
