Trent has been working at the Correctional Service Canada since 1992 filling various roles roles at 5 different Institutions, 3 Parole Offices, Regional HQ, National HQ as well as a tour of Duty in Kosovo. From the National Honours System, Trent has been awarded the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal, NATO Medal for Kosovo, Golden Jubilee Medal, Diamond Jubilee Medal, Canadian Decoration, Corrections Exemplary Service Medal, and the Alberta Centennial Medal. Trent was also awarded the Alberta Emergency Services Medal and Bronze Bar. Trent was appointed the National Guard Commander for the Ceremonial Unit of the Correctional Service Canada in March 2019
