Tina Hayes

Tina started her career as a Special Education teacher. She worked in many settings including inclusive classroom settings and some segregated and individualized education settings. The inclusive setting was what she supported and encouraged and gradually became the only setting students were placed in. Tina is a strong supporter of Inclusive Education and enjoys working with AU students in the Inclusive Education for Students with Diverse Needs course. Tina became a School Counsellor/Special Education Coordinator in a K – 9 school. She then achieved a Master in Education degree and became a registered psychologist. Psychological assessments took a great deal of her time. She thoroughly enjoyed working with students in a one-on-one setting. Tina appreciated the opportunity to work and coordinate with teachers, staff and parents to support students with diverse needs. When she became the Coordinator of Student Services for an Alberta school division she was honoured to work with students, staff and parents in many different school settings. Tina has also offered psychological services in a private practice setting. Tina has been an individualized study tutor for Athabasca University since 2001.
