I have received my PhD in sociology from the University of Alberta and did a research associateship and lectureship at the University of Lethbridge before joining Athabasca University in 2012. I have been an academic instructor/tutor and have taught HADM 326 (Health Issues: Health and Healing), HADM 339 (Organization of the Canadian Health Care System), and SOCI 300 (Organizations and Society both as an instructor (group study) and individualized tutor. I revised HADM 326 (Health Issues: Health and Healing course (Revision 3). Currently, I tutor SOSCI 366 (Research Methods in the Social Sciences) and SOCI 300 (How Humans Organize: From Primary Groups to the World-Wide Web). My research has been in the areas of populations studies, research methods, and health, illness and medicine. I am an author of two books: “Older South Asian Immigrant Women’s Views of Mental Distress” (2018) & “Negotiating Cultural Diversity: An Ethnographic Portrait of Framing Clients and Culture in a Community Health Centre in the Canadian Prairies” (2009), in addition to several academic journal articles, book chapters, and non-peer reviewed papers. I enjoy cooking, gardening, sports, and travel.
