Following twelve years of teaching in the Newfoundland educational system, from primary through high school and three years as a school principal, I completed my EdD in 1982 from Indiana University, specializing in Instructional Systems Technology. I taught for thirteen years at Memorial University of Newfoundland on the Master of Education program in Educational Technology, during which time I completed a number of research projects, supervised over forty theses, served as President of AMTEC (now CNIE), and served two terms as Editor of CJLT - one as co-editor. Since moving to Victoria, BC in 1995 I have worked contractually. That includes serving on the committee that developed the Master's program in Educations Technology at Royal Roads University and writing two of their courses, contractual teaching in educational technology at UBC, University of Victoria, and Athabasca University.
