I started my legal career in 1994 by joining the public service in Bangladesh. In 1998 I joined the newly created Legislative Drafting Department at the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Bangladesh, as a legislative drafter. I worked at the ministry till 2011, drafting government bills, rules, regulations and orders and providing legal opinion on government’s bilateral and multilateral contracts.
I had the opportunity to work for the Commonwealth Secretariat for few years as a legislative drafting consultant and expert. In 2005 I undertook a short-term assignment in Bermuda at the Attorney General’s Chambers for drafting government bills and regulations to meet government’s urgent agenda.
From 2012 to 2016 I worked in Kenya at the Attorney General’s Office and Kenya Law Reform Commission under a long-term CFTC project. During this period, I drafted more than 100 priority legislation required for implementing provisions of the 2010 New Constitution of Kenya.
In the meantime I moved to Ontario, Canada with my family. I received the NCA Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation, Federation of Law Societies of Canada and was called to the Ontario Bar.
I worked as a legislative counsel at the Office of Legislative Counsel, Ministry of the Attorney General, Ontario, Canada under a short-term contract. In 2019, I moved to Alberta, was called to the Alberta Bar and joined the Legislative Counsel Office of Alberta Justice and Solicitor General as a legislative counsel. I am currently working here.
I love music, visiting new places and trying local cuisine.
