Kirsten Smart

Kirsten holds a Masters in French Translation from the University of Alberta and joined Athabasca University (AU) in 2007. She teaches FREN 100, FREN 101, FREN 200, FREN 201, and FREN 405. She has also worked on the revisions of different AU French courses and regularly serves as Acting Academic Coordinator in the French Program Department. Prior to teaching at AU, Kirsten taught French courses at Grant MacEwan University, the University of Alberta, and for the Federal Government of Canada. While living in France, Kirsten also had the opportunity to teach Secondary School English. Translation is a particular area of interest for Kirsten, and she regularly takes on a variety of translation, transcription, and editing projects (French to English, and English to French). Kirsten is a passionate teacher and life-long learner who enjoys working with her students as they progress through their French language journeys.
