Dr. Gabriel Proulx is an Assistant Professor of French at Athabasca University. He holds a PhD in Literary Studies from the Université du Québec à Montréal and has conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Alberta and the Université de Montréal. His doctoral dissertation examined the influence of Gertrude Stein on contemporary French poetry, with a particular focus on post-poetic writing.

A specialist in contemporary French literature and comparative studies, his research focuses on post-poetry, autofiction, and critical disability studies. His current projects explore the representation of autism in French-language literature and highlight the critical tools that autism offers for literary and cultural studies.

He is the author of several books, including the essay Quand les spectres prennent la parole (Classiques Garnier), the novel Garçon désamorcé: roman autistique (Poètes de brousse), and two poetry collections. He is also a literary translator. His French translation of Carmine Starnino’s poetry collection This Way Out (Par ici la sortie, Hashtag) was a finalist for the John Glassco Translation Prize.
