Research assistant – casual position

Overview:

The primary job duties for the field research assistant include the following tasks:

  • Treat and standardize data extracted from financial databases: SDC-Platinum M&A and IPO, Compustat NA & Global, I/B/E/S, FISD, TRACE, Dealscan, CRSP, Osiris, Orbis, and Bordex.
  • Prepare data for statistical and econometric treatment.
  • Build Global Data Universe (GDU) files for the extracted data (files with data and variables definitions).

The successful candidate will work with, and directly report to, Dr. Jocelyn Grira at Athabasca University.

Qualifications:

  • Master is statistics, finance, economics or a related/relevant field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with financial data extraction and treatment.
  • Advanced knowledge of specialized financial databases: SDC-Platinum M&A and IPO, Compustat NA & Global, I/B/E/S, FISD, TRACE, Dealscan, CRSP, Osiris, Orbis, and Bordex.
  • Prepare data for statistical and econometric treatment.

The position is based in Edmonton, Alberta. Remote work is possible.
