Dr. Maggie Matear has held a range of senior roles in the private and public sectors. She began her career as a community adult educator, teaching and coordinating post-secondary programs at remote Indigenous campuses. Later, she was a founding partner in a management consulting firm, where she specialized in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement and organizational development. During this time she supported strategic and sustainability initiatives for municipal governments, MNEs and not-for-profit agencies. She has also held leadership positions in education, economic and community development settings. In addition to her career in management, Maggie has retained a commitment to academia, and has held teaching roles with Queens, Algoma and Athabasca Universities; in 2021 she won awards for both her teaching and research.
Maggie’s credentials include a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Education, a Master of Business Administration, and a PhD in Management. She is an avid hiker, canoeist, gardener and community capacity builder, with a solid track record of volunteering and service to both her profession and her community.
