I’m an interdisciplinary communications professional with specific skills in writing, editing, learning design, strategic communication, project management, human resources, labour relations, management, finance, and governance. My primary training is in Communications; I hold a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies, a master’s degree in Professional Communication, a Diploma in Professional Writing, and Certificates in Editorial Practices and Publishing.
At last count, I have worked on almost 300 Athabasca University courses, spanning most of the disciplines at AU, at both undergraduate and graduate levels. My work at AU has involved a lot of project management, editing, and learning design, as well as labour relations. To support this work, I have completed project management courses, instructional design for distance education courses, supervisory training, and a University Certificate in Human Resources and Labour Relations.
In my years at AU, I have become an unexpected educator, skilled in the business of distance education, with a broad knowledge of the postsecondary education sector and many disciplines therein. Nonetheless, I identify first as a communicator, but I practice my craft in university-level education, where having some knowledge in a lot of areas enables me to advise academics effectively.
