Katherena Vermette
Katherena Vermette is a Métis writer from Treaty One territory, the heart of the Métis nation, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Vermette writes fiction, poetry, children's literature and sometimes even film. Her first book, North End Love Songs (The Muses Company) won the Governor General’s Literary Award for Poetry. Her novel, The Break (House of Anansi), was bestseller in Canada and won numerous awards including, the 2017 Amazon.ca First Novel Award. Her second book of poetry, river woman, was just released and is an Chapters Indigo Heather's Pick. During her residency, she will be hard at work on the third and fourth instalments of her graphic novel series, A Girl Called Echo, as well as researching a new book of poetry.
