Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP)
The provincial Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP Act) came into effect in October 1995. In the fall of 1999, post-secondary institutions were added to the list of public bodies covered by the act.
The FOIP Act has two main purposes:
- To make public bodies more open and accountable by providing the public with the right of access to records.
- To protect personal information from unauthorized collection, use or disclosure by public bodies.
This site contains information about the university's access to information and privacy protection strategies and initiatives.
If you have any questions or concerns about the university's approach to providing access to information or protecting privacy, please email foip@athabascau.ca
