Overview
WGST 310: Feminist Approaches to Counselling Women focuses on crisis, or short-term, counselling. Students will have the opportunity to practice their skills and receive feedback. Students will gain an understanding of the major conceptual, ethical, and theoretical issues in the field of counselling women.
Outline
The course consists of the following five units.
- Unit 1: Foundations of Feminist Counselling
- Unit 2: Crisis Counselling in Action
- Unit 3: Ethics and Feminist Crisis Counselling
- Unit 4: Application of Feminist Counselling Skills to Special Issues
- Unit 5: Safety Planning and Beyond
Evaluation
To receive credit for WGST 310, you must achieve a course composite grade of at least D (50 percent). The weighting of the composite grade is as follows:

This course either does not have a course package or the textbooks are open-source material and available to students at no cost. This course has a Course Administration and Technology Fee, but students are not charged the Course Materials Fee.
