Prerequisite: Math 30 or an equivalent pre-calculus math course is strongly recommended. Students should have a deep understanding of basic algebra and trigonometry.

Precluded Course: MATH 212 (MATH 265 may not be taken for credit if credit has already been obtained for MATH 212.)

Overview

MATH 265 is an introductory calculus course covering real numbers, functions, continuity and limits, derivatives, curve sketching, optimization areas between curves, applications of the derivative, anti-derivatives, integrals, and areas.

Evaluation

To receive credit for the course, you must submit all the course assignments and complete them to the satisfaction of your tutor. You must also achieve a grade of at least 50 per cent on each examination, and a course composite grade of at least “D” (50 percent). The weighting of the composite grade is as follows:

Challenge Evaluation

To receive credit for the MATH 265 challenge registration, you must complete the two parts of the challenge exam and achieve a minimum grade of at least “D” (50 percent) on both parts. The two parts of the exam must be written on the same day, or on two consecutive days.
