Overview
Leadership consists of a learnable set of practices that can be deciphered and understood. Developing leadership potential is about acquiring proficiencies in key areas that leverage pre-existing skills and expertise, and applying those proficiencies in ways that improve organizational performance. In this course, you will revisit what you have learned about the many aspects of leadership and apply this learning to analyze a leadership issue in your own organization.
LLCP 598: Capstone is the final course for students completing the Graduate Diploma in Leadership and Management (GDLM).
Outline
For this self-directed course, learners will be writing a 5000-word capstone paper on themes or issues covered in the GDLM. Learners are required to submit a proposal for review by an academic coach, followed by the paper itself. The task is to:
- identify and describe a relevant business issue;
- conduct a critical analysis of this issue;
- identify the lessons learned;
- make recommendations for action/improvement (if/as applicable).
Objectives
After completing this course, learners will be better equipped to:
- identify and discuss the importance of a specific business issue in their own organization;
- critically examine the specific issue while referring to relevant scholarship;
- describe and discuss the essential lessons learned through analysis of the identified business issue, and make recommendations for change/improvements.
Evaluation
Students will be evaluated based on the quality of their paper (100%). To pass the course, students must achieve 70% or more on the final paper.
