That’s a wrap on a convocation like no other!
Convocation ceremonies brought together graduates from across Canada and beyond to celebrate in our home community of Athabasca
For the first time in six years, Athabasca University (AU) convocation returned triumphantly to our home community in Athabasca! We proudly celebrated the Class of 2024, which includes 1,950 graduates from 43 programs who received degrees, diplomas, and certificates.
Over two unforgettable days, hundreds of grads and over 2,000 guests filled the region, making our in-person celebration a grand success. After the ceremonies, everyone was invited to explore AU’s beautiful campus, fostering connections between graduates, classmates, professors, and staff who have supported their journeys.
Highlights of the ceremonies included inspiring speeches from 2024 Honorary Doctor of Laws recipients Dr. Douglas J. Cardinal and alum Esmail Bharwani (Bachelor of Administration ’92), the presentation of the Governor General’s Academic Gold and Silver Medals, and the induction of Dr. Mike Gismondi into the Order of Athabasca University.
New graduates also flipped their tassels from right to left and shared their proud successes on social media and, in some cases, on the news!
