AU to support students whose ProctorU exams were affected by global CrowdStrike Microsoft outage

Athabasca University’s contracted online exam invigilator, ProctorU, has experienced disruptions due to global issues with CrowdStrike and Microsoft

Athabasca University students whose ProctorU exams are disrupted by the global CrowdStrike Windows outage will be given additional time to complete their exams.

AU’s exam unit will reach out directly to affected students. AU is ensuring that students with exams disrupted by this outage have until July 31, 2024, to complete their exams with no extra costs. Any student unable to complete their exam by July 31 should contact the exam unit to discuss options.

Meazure Learning, AU’s contracted partner that provides the ProctorU online proctoring service, is experiencing disruptions today, July 19, 2024, as a result of the global outage caused by an error in an update to CrowdStrike’s cybersecurity software, Falcon Sensor. This outage is also affecting many organizations all over the world.

Meazure Learning will also reach out directly to affected students and provide the option to reschedule the appointment to a later date.

If this outage extends into the weekend, students with exams booked Saturday, July 20, and Sunday, July 21, will also be given additional time to reschedule and complete their exam.
