Métis Elder shares story of life in northern Alberta
Stories help to protect and preserve Indigenous knowledge, education, and oral traditions. They are important to our journey of kwayskahsatsowin (conciliation) and to our commitment to Indigeneity, in all its forms, at Athabasca University.
In this video, Métis Elder and AU honorary degree recipient Terry Lusty tells a story of “Donald Simpson,” a Dene drummer and singer, and his life in Peace Point in northern Alberta.
Lusty shared the story in advance of the opening of the Linda Bull Memorial Garden and the Bertha Clark-Jones O.C. Art Gallery on AU’s campus.
