Co-creating Lasting Community Change through Co-design (CLC3)
Overview
We are looking for a graduate research assistant to join the Co-creating Lasting Community Change through Co-design (CLC3) project team and lead the creation and implementation of knowledge mobilization products, principally social media engagements, webinars and videos. CLC3 is a partnership between The Social Impact Lab Alberta and Athabasca University. CLC3 is undertaking multi-sectoral research to advance knowledge and practice of co-design and co-develop an iterative, community-centred assessment tool to evaluate the results and contributions of community co-design to mutual-learning, citizen empowerment and enhanced community capacity.
Specific activities include, but are not limited to
- Contribute to research ethics application
- Capturing and documenting video assets
- Create two publicly accessible videos
- Organize and host webinars
- Develop and execute a social media plan
- Assist with in-person engagement
- Contribute to other academic knowledge and public information dissemination materials and activities
Qualifications
- Currently a university student registered in a graduate program
- Live in or able to easily commute to Edmonton or Calgary
- Experience developing and delivering digital knowledge mobilization outputs, including video, webinars and social media
- Experience capturing video and image assets
- Self-motivated and able to work on one’s own
- Experience collaborating with others to complete projects / undertake public events
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Well-honed interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail
- Good time management
- Access to own computer with software such as Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with Teams and Zoom an asset
The successful candidate will gain experience in conducting community-based, collaborative participatory research as core members of CLC3, and directly report to Dr. Rebeccah Nelems. Dr. Nelems and members of the CLC3 research team will provide training for the research and project coordination work required.

The position is for 25 weeks at 10 hours a week; ten hours per week are approximate and may vary based upon activities. The hourly wage for this position is $21.00 to $30/hour depending upon experience.
