Co-creating Lasting Community Change through Co-design (CLC3)
Overview
We are looking for a graduate research assistant to join the Co-creating Lasting Community Change through Co-design (CLC3) project team to assist with a scoping review, individual interviews and community workshops held in-person and on-line. The successful candidate also will provide project management and communications support.
CLC3 is a partnership between The Social Impact Lab Alberta and Athabasca University. CLC3 is undertaking multi-sectoral research to advance knowledge and practice of co-design and co-develop an iterative, community-centred assessment tool to evaluate the results and contributions of community co-design to mutual-learning, citizen empowerment and enhanced community capacity.
Specific activities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide communications and logistics support for research meetings and data organization collection across the CLC team
- Contribute to the research ethics application
- Undertake a scoping review of evaluative co-design tools/frameworks
- Undertake individual interviews
- Assist with design and delivery of in-person and on-line engagements
- Contribute to academic knowledge and public information dissemination materials and activities
Qualifications:
- Currently a university student registered in a graduate program
- Live in or able to easily commute to Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta
- Experience organizing and facilitating events, meetings, and workshops
- Self-motivated and able to work on one’s own
- Experience collaborating with others to complete projects or undertake public events
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Well-honed interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and multi-tasking skills
- Attention to detail
- Good time management
- Access to own computer with software such as Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with Teams and Zoom an asset
The successful candidate will gain experience in conducting community-based, collaborative participatory research as core members of CLC3, and directly report to Dr. Lorelei Hanson at Athabasca University. Dr. Hanson and other members of the CLC3 research team will provide training for the research and project coordination work required.

The position is for 25 weeks at 10 hours a week; ten hours per week are approximate and may vary based upon activities. The hourly wage for this position is $21.00 to $30/hour depending upon experience.
