Dr. Meenal Shrivastava is the Associate Dean, Student & Awards at the Faculty of Graduate Studies and a Full Professor in Political Economy and Global Studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Meenal brings with her twenty-five years of research, teaching, and administrative experience. Her academic research has so far led to the publication of three books and more than one hundred and fifty articles, book chapters, papers, and opinion pieces. In her seventeen years at Athabasca University, she has served on more than one hundred committees at the centre, faculty, and university levels, including a three-year term as chair of the Centre for Social Sciences. Her academic citizenship, mentorship roles, and national and international networks are built on the principles of accessibility, diversity, equity, and reflexivity. She brings a practical and collaborative vision to FGS to create initiatives to attract, support, and retain graduate students; to support faculty development around graduate supervision; as well as pedagogical leadership in enhancing the quality of graduate education at Athabasca University.
