Convocation is a special time for all of us at AU—a time to come together and celebrate the achievements of our graduates.

April 30, 2026, is the deadline to apply to graduate and be eligible to participate in this year’s convocation ceremony.  All final grades must be received by the Office of the Registrar, and all program requirements must be completed by this date.

Please note that graduation and convocation are differentGraduation is the official recognition that you have completed all your program requirements and are entitled to claim the credential you have earned. Convocation is the ceremonial event where the Chair of the Athabasca University Board of Governors formally confers your degree.

Attending convocation is optional for our graduates—applying to graduate does not automatically register you to attend. To have your name and credential announced during the presentation of degrees, you must register to attend before May 31, 2026.

When registration opens this winter, eligible graduates will receive an email invitation with a link to the online registration form. The registration link will also be available on the convocation website.

More details about Convocation 2026 will be announced in the coming months. Remember to keep your contact information up to date in your myAU account to ensure you receive convocation communications. It’ll be a celebration like no other and we’re looking forward to sharing the Athabasca region with our graduates and their loved ones!
