Call for Indigenous Community Member Athabasca University Research Ethics Board (REB)

Athabasca University is seeking a volunteer to serve as an Indigenous Community Member on its Research Ethics Board, for a two-year term. Experience in academic research as a researcher or participant is preferred, but not necessary. Community members must not be currently affiliated with Athabasca University.

The Board meets monthly (for approximately 2 hours) to review applications from Athabasca University staff, students and external researchers submitted through the University’s online research application system (Research Portal). All meetings are virtual. Pre-meeting preparation may involve up to a full day of reading and preparation and input of comments into the research portal. Additional meetings may be required occasionally for training, planning, and organization. As way of honouring the gift of knowledge of our Indigenous Community Member, a gift of tobacco and honorarium of $50 per meeting attended will be provided.
